The Drive of Determination

Yellowstone was a very cool place. As you can see from the pics, it was awash with colors and sights. Probably the most unique place on earth with regards to all the geothermal formations, large animals and unique geography. Definitely a place that everybody needs to see once. We were thoroughly worn out from the rest of our adventures, though, so we didn’t take the time to hike any of the trails or really pursue the far corners of the park.
Thankfully, though, most of the sights in Yellowstone are easily accessible with short walks down boardwalks from nearby parking lots. If it wasn’t for that, we might not have seen many of the geysers and hot springs, because we were hiked out! Anyway, it was fun, but since we were totally ready to come home, we cut our second day short and headed 5 hours toward home and stayed in Casper, WY for the night. Determined to get home fast, Rebecca and I made the last minute decision to make Tuesday a LOOOONG driving day. We got up at 5am in Casper, Wyoming and headed down the road for the longest trip of our lives. We covered 1100 miles and 5 states over the next 19 hours and ended up at Gina and Rich’s house in Southlake, Texas after midnight. It was hard, but the benefits are worth it! The kids did a great job on the long day and today we woke up in a familiar place, back home in Texas, and are only 3 hours from home! Yeah! We enjoyed the heck outta our vacation, but it’ll be great to be home today! This will probably be our last blog entry, thanks for following us on our journey. We thank God for taking perfect care of us all along the way and we are sure the last 3 hours will go smoothly too. We can’t wait to see all our friends again and get back to familiar surroundings. Adios vacation, guten tag home!!!
