Yosemite has been called the Swiss Alps of America, and as we drove through the park saw the many wonders that inspired the comparison. There are numerous waterfalls, lakes, mountains and rock formations. Due to the record snow fall this past winter, the waterfalls were flowing at record rates. We ran into several frequent visitors to the park who said they’d never seen the falls as large and that there were even some new waterfalls flowing that they’d never seen before. It’s a very beautiful park, no doubt. It’s also a VERY popular park, however, which meant lots of traffic and crowds. We had to camp 25 miles outside of the valley and had to switch campsites each of the two nights we were there because our campground was so full. Despite all this, we still had a great time. When we were walking over the river that you see in the picture above, we discovered a few Rainbow Trout swimming in the crystal clear waters. Of course this made Kendall get excited about fishing. Unfortunately we had not brought his fishing gear from the campground that day. Even though we were too tired to do any hiking in Yosemite, we are still glad we came. We got to stop off on the way to San Francisco and eat lunch in the oldest Saloon in California (The Iron Door) and our campground was wonderful. We had a great time.
